Finance Valued Behaviours
Our Valued Behaviours articulate the guiding principles that drive and motivate us, help us achieve our corporate goals and shape our future direction. They define the way we work and are the first point of reference for our recruitment and performance management processes.
Our Valued Behaviours form the cornerstone of our organisational culture and are to be upheld throughout our organisation - both in language and in action. They are an extension of the APS Values and Code of Conduct. We build on this foundation to distinguish 'the Finance way'.
In demonstrating Our Valued Behaviours a Finance employee:
- Nurtures Productive Working Relationships
This encapsulates teamwork, respect for your colleagues, and nurturing all your internal and external working relationships. For managers it entails developing, supporting and mentoring staff. For non-managers it involves building your relationship with your manager. - Communicates Effectively
This emphasises the importance of excellence in communication – both oral and written – with all your internal and external stakeholders, colleagues and clients.
- Achieves Results and Demonstrates Creativity
This is about your commitment to working towards the delivery of outcomes and your ability to develop innovative ways of contributing to the Department's organisational needs. It is also about how you deal with and implement change.
- Exhibits Both Personal Drive and Integrity
This is about pushing yourself to achieve your work goals whilst maintaining the absolute integrity that is expected of us all. Integrity emphasises the importance of ethical behaviour in the workplace, upholding the APS Values and Code of Conduct, and the application of the merit principle in decision-making.
- Displays Ability to Learn
Your willingness to strive to learn, and your aptitude for applying new knowledge in your working life, is vital to your personal development. Continual learning and sharing that knowledge is also vital for a healthy, growing organisation.
- Demonstrates Relevant Skills and Expertise
This is about the specific skills that you bring to your role. It also encompasses the Department's expectations of you as set out in your job description and/or Performance Agreement.
